  • European motor caravan and caravan market registered 12.1% sales growth in 2017

European motor caravan and caravan market registered 12.1% sales growth in 2017

    09.04.2018

Sales in the European caravanning industry grew at a record rate in 2017. The sector registered sales growth of 12.1% relative to the prior year, which translates into sales of 190,565 new vehicles, European Caravan Federation (ECF)* reported. This represents the sector’s strongest sales growth since 2007. As in past years, this Europe-wide sales growth was mainly driven by outstanding sales in Germany. In 2017, the German leisure-vehicle sector stroke a new record, with sales of 63,264 newly registered motor caravans and caravans – a 15.3% rise over the prior year. The two highest-sales markets after Germany also did extremely well in 2017: sales of new leisure vehicles were up 9.1% to 38,958 units in Great Britain, and in France rose 7.6% to 29,528 new motor caravans and caravans. What’s more, sales of new leisure vehicles rose in virtually all European markets. In Spain, sales were up by an impressive 40.3%, to 5,721 newly registered motor caravans and caravans. Sales growth in the Norwegian market amounted to 16.5% (6,591 units) and in Italy to 16% (5,810 units). Sales of motor caravans were particularly impressive last year. Thanks to robust sales growth of 14.9% (110,817 new units sold), sales in the European market exceeded the mark of 100,000 units for the first time in the sector’s history. This achievement was mainly attributable to the numerous sales records that were broken in various European markets. Thus for example, in addition to Germany and Great Britain, in 2017 new sales records for motor caravans were set in Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium and Spain. In total, 11 markets registered a double digit growth. The outstanding sales performance in the European motor caravan sector was largely attributable to sales in Germany, which rose 15.5% to 40,568 new motor caravans. France held the number two spot, with sales of 21,396 newly registered motor caravans (up 8.6%), followed by Great Britain with sales of 14,147 new motor caravans (up 14.7%). Impressive sales growth for new motor caravans was also registered in Spain (up 47.8%), The Netherlands (up 21.3%) and Sweden (up 20.6%). This past year saw equally robust sales in the European caravan sector, where sales of new caravans were up 8.4% relative to last year, to 79,748 units. This was the largest sales jump in more than three decades. Sales performance in the key European caravan markets also reflected this trend. In Great Britain, the traditional market leader in this sector, sales of new caravans were up 6.2%, to 24.811 units; in Germany, caravan sales were up by 14.9%, to 22,696 units; and in France, caravan sales rose by 5% to 8,132 units. * European Caravan Federation (ECF) was founded in 1964 with headquarter in Zurich, Switzerland. It is an umbrella organization that represents the interests of the national associations of the European leisure vehicle industry. Veselin Valev Camping.bg

  • The Best Bulgarian Campsites for 2017

The Best Bulgarian Campsites for 2017

    19.09.2017

The ranking of the campsites of Bulgaria #BestBGcamp2017 has come to an end. It is held for the third consecutive year by the Bulgarian Camping Web Camping.bg with the partnership of SportDepot sports stores and MarketLinks marketing research agency. For 3 weeks the visitors of Camping.bg rated the campsites according to different criteria. The categories which awarded the best places to stay under the stars in Bulgaria were eight. Additionally, the voters could pick their favorite campsite abroad. The online poll involved 644 people, of which aprox. 40% were men and 60% women. Nearly half of the voters prefer to camp in tents. After them are the ones who prefer bungalow accommodation. The owners of caravans and camper vans follow them very closely. According to the age criteria, the majority of voters are 31-40 years old (41,9%), then are the 41-50 years old. Young people up to 30 years represent 22,2% of the respondents. The share of voters from a big Bulgarian city (Plovdiv, Varna, Ruse, Stara Zagora, Burgas) is almost as equal as the share of the citizens of the capital Sofia. Detailed information will be published in the ranking report, which you can request on info@camping.bg. The poll determined the most visited camps in the last years and for the last five years. For the last five years the most visited camps on the Black sea side were South beach, The Cool Place and Kavatzi and in the last year Kavatzi’ place has been taken by Irakli. As for the campsites, which are not on the sea coast - most popular are Kapinovski monastery, Dospat and Batak. Here is the ranking by categories: Category “Favorite campsite along the Black sea coast”: 1 place: The Cool Place – Lozenetz village 2 place: South beach – Sozopol 3 place: Irakli – Irakli beach Category “Favourite inland camping”: 1 place: Kapinovski monastery – Veliko Tarnovo 2 place: Eco-camping Dospat – Dospat dam 3 place: Eco-camping Batak – Batak dam Five of the winners of both categories remain the same as in 2016. The new winner here is camping Irakli, which was available for tents, camper vans and caravans for the last season. The efforts of the owners have definitely made it a friendly and beautiful place for a vacation. Category “Comfort and hygiene” (campsite with the best hygienic conditions): 1 place: Sakar Hills – 4,67 points 2 place: The Cool Place – 4,51 points 3 place: Kromidovo – 4,50 points Category “Accommodation” (campsite with the best accommodation, water and power supply): 1 place: Sakar Hills – 4,75 points 2 place: Zora – 4,64 points 3 place: The Cool Place – 4,54 points Category “Entertainment and other additional services” (campsite with the biggest variety of sports and entertainment options): 1 place: Zora – 4.36 points 2 place: The Cool Place – 4,21 points 3 place: Kapinovski monatery – 4,18 points Category “Supply” (campsite with the best accessibility to dining and shopping): 1 place: Zora – 4,36 points 2 place: Sandanski – 4,21 points 3 place: The Cool Place – 4,16 points Category “Improvements and development” (campsite with the most significant improvement in its facilities in the last 5 years): 1 place: Kapinovski monastery – 4,50 points 2 place: The Cool Place – 4,47 points 3 place: Zora – 4,43 points The result from the “Favourite campsite abroad” category is also interesting. More than half of the respondents have stated that they haven’t visited any campsite abroad. From those who have, 1/3 don’t have a favorite campsite. Thus, the most popular Greek campsites – Thalatta Kalamitsi and Armenistis, both on Sitonia, Halkidiki, rank among the favorite campsite abroad for Bulgarians. Other countries in which Bulgarians go on camping are Italy, Austria, Croatia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Turkey, Slovenia and others. The best campsites will be awarded. More information on the ranking of the campsites in Bulgaria can be found in Camping.bg Special report, which you can request on email info@camping.bg. It's price is 15 EUR. The most popular and best selling hybrid car in the world also became intresting object for innovators. Toyota Prius is not particularly practical for camping and for this reason a few years ago the Japanese Camp-Inn developers has made this prototype called by themself "Space Shuttle". The creators of the "shuttle" indicated that it's equipped with a table and seating place. Thanks to the second floor that Prius can accomodate 4 person. Well, the aerodynamics of that car isn't very good and it's mileage range will be reduced, but just imagine what amazed faces will see everywhere at your journey. Camping.bg
